I grew up in Canada and spent most of my twenties in Toronto before leaving at 26. I’m delighted to be back home, and I now write full time from Stratford, Ontario. I’m happiest on crisp autumn days and blustery winter ones – the snow belt is where I’m meant to be.

Bio
Robyn A. Bartlett is Professor Emerita of English at Purdue University, where she taught medieval literature for nearly twenty years and won numerous awards for her teaching. She is the author of Relics and Writing in Late Medieval England (University of Toronto Press, 2013) and The Porous Subject: Domestic Confession and Neighbor Love in Late Medieval England (Cornell University Press, 2027). Her essays on Chaucer, Hoccleve, and medieval confession have appeared in PMLA, Studies in the Age of Chaucer, Exemplaria, and The Chaucer Review. Across all of it, she keeps returning to the same questions: what it means to pay attention, and how we can stay open to one another without losing ourselves.
She now writes historical fiction, including a novel set in Elizabethan England.
Robyn grew up in Canada and studied at the University of Toronto and Ohio State University. She spent over two decades in the United States before moving home in 2026, and she now lives in Stratford, Ontario, home of the Stratford Festival, which she will tell you is the best theatre anywhere. She came to the outdoors late, in her thirties, and is happiest on a good trail. She is learning to throw on the wheel, and she loves heading to Toronto for more theatre, art, and film. She reads widely and constantly, from philosophy to British crime fiction.
